Healthy Detox Diets
With all the diet fads that has been advertised and repeated over and over since time immemorial, people have yet to learn. “Crash dieting” is not the way to do it. People mistake not eating for three consecutive meals, or not eating at all, as a way to lose weight and trim down. It does not work that way. The more you fast, the more hungry you become. And honestly, how long can you go not eating right without catching some problems along the way? These fad diets would only cause you health problems and a trip to the emergency room of your favorite hospital. Not a very smart move, don’t you think?
Studies have shown that the best, yes, the BEST way to lose weight is through exercising and by having a balanced diet. That seems like a tough job to follow since you love food and you definitely love to eat. However, if you really want to have that “to-die-for” body, you must do your part, and work it well. No one will do it for you, so you better start now. We know that when we eat, we also eliminate the remains of them. And by now, we are aware of our body’s own cleansing system, or the “detox” team, consisting of the liver, the kidneys, the intestines and even the skin. They all work hand-in-hand to filter, cleanse and eliminate waste. By the way, detoxification or simply detox is the process of eliminating or removing waste products.
Conversely, if we are to exercise and when we work hard, we sweat and it makes our heart work more, which boosts the blood flow and supply throughout the entire body. This process will aid your natural detox center to do its job. By exercising, you will also lose some calories and fat. And of course, it will make you feel good and healthy at the same time.
Some people follow a certain healthy detox diet that they say helped them, here are the two of them:
• The Natural Detox Diet: In this diet, you will need to cut out on all your alcohol, tea, coffee, processed foods, sugary drinks, chocolate and fast food. Its primary goal is to first lessen the acid levels in your body, and then release all the toxins from the vital organs and out of the body by the help of the lymphatic system; after which you will re-energize. You will also need to perform light aerobic exercises for at least 25-30 minutes for three to four times a week.
• The Three Week Healthy Eating Diet: In this diet, you will have to eliminate your entire carbohydrates intake in the evening for the first two weeks, and should be followed by meals consisting of protein, fruits and vegetables. For the final week, you could already eat carbohydrates in the evening and in mid-morning. During this diet, you should be able to maintain two liters of water intake each day. However, while on the process of this diet, you may have headaches, increased lethargy and nausea because of the unhealthy toxins that are being released.
During the healthy detox diet, it is also important to perform some exercises to help energize both the circulatory and lymphatic systems that will eliminate the toxins. A simple and light routine exercise would be enough. Doing a healthy detox diet is a personal choice, the results may vary from each person and some may feel comfortable doing it, while others do not. Compared to the fad diets, crash diets and who-knows-whatever-kind-of-diet-there-is, this is relatively safe and much reliable in terms of the detoxification process. If you are unsure, consult your doctor first regarding the healthy detox diets available.
Dieting Solutions – The Emerging Trends in 2010
Over the years, people struggle with weight loss, hoping to shed a few (or not so few) pounds and trying to live a healthier life. They try exercising and dieting, asking other people what works in the quest to lose weight. Recommendations get distributed and people start trying new ways their friends told them would work. Trends and fads are born. Some stay, some come and go but they are nevertheless interesting to observe. 2010 has not been lacking in this respect, read on for the variety of diet trend which has bloomed during the early part of the year.
The Cavemen Diet
This diet mirrors the eating habit of our ancient Paleolithic ancestors. The diet followers believe that eating large quantity of meat and then fasting for a period of time (the way it has been for the Paleolithic tribesmen between hunts) give them the good shape and strength these Paleolithic ancestors had. They mostly stay away from cooked food and absolutely refuse processed food like bread, as such food is not supposed to be in the Paleolithic diet.
The diet followers, preferring to be called cavemen, also choose the kind of exercise which reflects the habit of the long gone ancestors, like sprinting and jumping. This dieting trend, unlike its competitions, has massive followers of the male variety. It focuses mostly in physical strength and a lifestyle which is considered macho thus it is natural that it attracts male cult following.
The WWJE Diet
Called the What Would Jesus Eat, the supposedly Bible-based diet has many other names, including Hallelujah Diet, the Maker’s Diet, the Lord’s Diet or the Genesis 1:29 Diet. Yet another lose weight approach which reflects the old, better times, this diet consists of whole food believed to be consumed in Biblical times – yogurt, grass-fed meat, organic produce and whole grains.
The endorsers of this lose weight program anchor their argument on what is believed to be Jesus’ diet, claiming that, “Jesus did not eat processed foods, too much sugar, or food additives.” The diet focuses on being wholesome and improving the overall well being of the body.
The Baby Food Diet
This lose weight trend made headlines when it first came out early this year. The diet itself is not exactly new since it was first started in 2006, by male fans of Dior Homme jeans, of all people. The diet which consists of liquid, pureed food was brought into public eyes again, thanks to the very fit and slim Jennifer Aniston. People are always wondering what the movie star does to have a body like that and any diet or exercise regime associated with her is certain to make waves.
The diet planner, Tracy Anderson, a celebrity trainer, wants a dieting program which can cleanse and detox while still working the digestive system. She comes up with this, “…14 portions of pureed food a day followed by a healthy adult dinner.”
The Tweet Your Weight Diet
Another emerging trend, especially between journalists and writers, is tweeting and blogging about what they eat and how much they weight on a particular day. It works surprisingly well as support and guidance pour in while guilt works on the other side, as the dieter needs to report what they actually consume every single day. This lose weight program is similar to old fashioned food diary and produces the same results.
The Dukan Diet
The Dukan diet is a method in 4 phases with the aim of returning to a diet based on natural foods. A diet for weight loss can sometimes be hazardous according to the method advocated. But in the case plan Dukan diet is effective and natural. It is very well structured and divided into a progressive course in 4 stages:
Regime Dukan # 1 – Phase Attack
Regime Dukan # 2 – Phase Alternative
Regime Dukan #: 3 – Consolidation Phase
Regime Dukan #: 4 – Stabilization Phase
The attack phase of Dukan diet is to eat only animal protein for 5 to 10 days. This means eating fatty fish raw or cooked seafood, lean meats like veal, poultry (except ducks).
To make arrangements under the regime Dukan, the 2nd step is to integrate raw vegetables or cooked food supplements in Phase 1. During this 2nd phase of the scheme Dukan must alternate days with animal protein and only days with animal protein and vegetables until the ideal weight.
Be careful when talking about weight, it does not just mean the number on the scales but also the body mass index of an indicator that shows whether you are overweight.
Once you successfully reach your ideal weight, it goes to the 3rd stage of the plan to consolidate Dukan. For this there are 10 days lost per kg. So if you have lost 2 pounds, the stabilization phase lasts 20 days. The meals include foods allowed in Phase 1 and 2 you can add 1 serving of fruit and 2 slices of bread (wholemeal bread only) each day. You also take up to 2 servings of starchy but a week. Caution is essential in 1 day each week where you eat only animal protein (feed phase 1). You can also allow normal 2 meals per week.
Finally the last step plan Dukan, stabilization. You can eat normally, but keep the habit of having only 1 day with animal protein (again the list of foods allowed in step 1).

Analyzing the Pineapple Diet
The pineapple diet is a popular fad diet that involves a strict short term (no more than 3 to 7 days) of eating a diet that consists primarily of pineapple, tuna, water, and vitamin supplements. The diet was developed by Joann Metzger, which is why it is sometimes referred to as the Joann Metzger pineapple diet. This eating plan is designed to harness the protein and omega-3 fats of tuna, reduce unnatural sugars and white carbs out of the diet, and take advantage of the many positive weight loss attributes of pineapple to ensure weight loss success.
Basically, one of the theories behind pineapple is that aside from being high in vitamins and having natural sugars to help kill cravings for sweets, is that pineapple has a fat burning enzyme that helps burn away the fat in the body and makes pineapple harder for the body to break down – meaning he body burns more calories naturally just trying to process the food.
There is a lot of controversy over this theory, and while supplements such as “pineapple pills” have sprung up claiming to be a part of the eating plan, in reality this is not the case at all. The only supplements for this diet are normal multi-vitamins.
Eating a lot of pineapple, drinking ice water, and eating some tuna on a consistent basis will help to drop weight in the short term, and these gains can often be extended into long term losses. Anyone interested in the pineapple diet should definitely do more research to see if it might be right for them.
